Within my exploration in July of Beacon, New York I came upon an exhibition within Hudson Beach Glass Gallery: “New York Water Towers” by Ronnie Farley. With impeccable use of shadow and light I was immediately drawn to the photographs and the subject matter. Water is often a subject matter when it is lacking in an environment, such as in clean water projects for impoverished areas, but this exhibition called the audience to think of water in a different manner. Using New York City water towers Farley draws attention to water issues in urban areas and the distribution of water in the city. Often overlooked, water towers are integral to the makeup of New York City’s infrastructure and are a beautiful structure to document taking on an almost spiritual symbol, looming a top the buildings  almost near the clouds.

The exhibition ran in Beacon, New York where Ronnie Farley has a residence from June 8 through July 28, 2013. Farley has a long career photo documentation which you can check out here: http://ronniefarley.com/
