Enjoyed a very special preview of Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style at Seattle Art Museum! You must take a trip to see this show!

From the fabric, cut to the accessories, it was full of majesty and wonder. Learning about the process and thought behind these majestic works through swatches and inspiration boards created an area of breadth and depth to the exhibition.

Mark Bradford: Receive Calls on Your Cell Phone from Jail

The work of Mark Bradford has had a personal and professional impact on my life as an art lover and arts administrator. His work has been a pivotal reminder of the importance of art as a tool for social justice and societal reflection. I have often looked to his artwork for inspiration and reflection. Visiting Receive Calls on Your Cell Phone From Jail (2003) was a breathtaking experience, and I have tried to include photos with a variety of details so that you may view the skill, process and genius in his work. The work is a grid of thirty-eight paintings comprising posters that convey the challenges surrounding receiving collect calls from prison on one’s cell phone. Ellipsis: Pulitzer Arts Foundation

During my visit to St. Louis I had to visit the Pulitzer Arts Foundation!

Ellipsis (April 15 – July 2, 2016) was currently on view, and it was such an immersive experience! All of my senses were stimulated through taste, touch, look and listen. On view was one of my favorite artists of all time: Felix Gonzalez-Torres. His work stimulated my senses as the roomed glowed gold, and it is a special treat to be able to take a piece of candy to eat, which also keeps the work alive.

Martin Puryear: The Art Institute of Chicago

One of my sculpture idols is Martin Puryear. It was with joy and excitement I viewed his exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago. Entitled Martin Puryear: Multiple Dimensionsthe exhibition shows over 100 drawings and 12 sculptures, many of which has never been seen before. His transformative works show mastery of craft and creative exploration across many ideas. Through May 1, 2016 it is a must-see before it closes!
