Cuba Libre!: Works from the Shelley and Donald Rubin Private Collection

March 19 to June 21, 2015

Bronx Museum of the Arts

With the recent re-engagement between the United States and Cuba, there has been an increased interest in the future of the island of Cuba. The exhibition Cuba Libre! provides a selection of works from the Shelley and Donald Rubin Private Collection in which Cuban artists ponder on their diversity and rich historical legacy. Check it out before it closes on June 21st!

Below are some of my favorite highlights from my visit to the exhibition:

Mira Marrero and José Ángel Toirac “Looking for Happiness”, 2014 Archival pigment on Hahnemuhle German etching paper Ed. 16/20

Adonis Flores “Fe II (Faith II)”, 2013 Chromogenic print

Kadir López “Shell”, 2008 Mixed media on porcelain-lacquered steel
