One of the few African American female classical ballerinas, Misty Copeland is an inspiration and beautiful spirit. She made history in 2007 as the first African American soloist in the American Ballet Theater, one of the best ballet companies in the world. Currently Misty dances with the American Ballet Theater and the Dance Theater of Harlem, and she does a lot of charitable work within New York City to inspire young female dancers. She is certainly an artist on the edge.
Here is video of her with Prince on Lopez Tonight, one of the many times she shows that classical ballet is not limited to one audience or musical genre.
